Jim
Knuckles - wood carving artist.
We
would like to welcome you to the website of a very unusual and
unique artist. Jim creates hand carved fish, aquatic
birds and mammals. His unique fish figurines are truly art in
wood. Using a chainsaw and other electric hand tools, his
wildlife carvings are one of a kind in wildlife art.
Jim Knuckles has resided in Florida all his life. He and his
other half, Nancy live in Lake County/Tavares, Florida. Their
home is on Lake Dora, which is part of the famous Bass filled
waters of the chain of lakes, Lake Dora, Lake Eustis, Lake
Harris and Lake Griffin.
Jim's unique form of wood carving has evolved over many years.
He first started with chain saw carving. Loved it, but found
that the wet cypress was very unforgiving as it almost always
cracks heavily as it dries. Repairs and comebacks were
inevitable.
Jim then started doing abstract wood art using only red cedar
root materials. Today he uses only the
finest of woods that are native to the south. Cypress, cedar,
southern yellow pine are his choices. He purchases rough sawn
wood beams at a local mill or sometimes even goes to one of
his local lumber yard to find unique large size beams and
lumber.
Jim, can carve most salt and fresh water fish species. He also
carves aquatic water fowl such as herons, egrets and pelicans.
All Jims wood carvings are life-size and are airbrushed to be
lifelike in everyway.
I hope you enjoy this site. Tell your friends about it.
